XF 'Season 10' Returns via Comic Series!

The truth is out there, and is set to take us on some new and exciting adventures with Mulder and Scully at the helm!

Following up to previous exciting news that ‘The X-Files’ is coming back in June 2013 in comic book form, it has been announced over the weekend that the series creator, Chris Carter is going to be coming on board to be executive producer of the comic series, which is being labelled ‘Season 10’.

What’s that?! An X-Files Season 10 you say?! Delivered in comic book form? Geektastic!

XF3 Ramblings

I contemplated writing these musings for Moviehole, but as I don't want to flood my new job with X-Files posts. I promised the previous Features editor that I wouldn't, and I plan to stick to that promise... maybe. Liv if you're reading, I'll do my best!

So I'm sat here, in gloomy rainy Brisbane (it reminds me a lot of Vancouver outside) feeling a little sorry for myself... as I tend to do when there's a convention appearance looming. I get it... I live in the Southern Hemisphere. The Northern Hemisphere conventions are out of my reach. It doesn't mean that I'm not going to feel sad that I can't attend.

But I digress...

The following musings are from my own mind. These are my thoughts. MINE. They are not from anyone else but me. If you want to flame me for them, I suggest you just stop reading and go and do something else with the time it would take you to read this post. It's purely to get these thoughts out of my own brain and put them down into my blog. That's why I started blogging in the first place.

So, if you're still with me and haven't run away, here's what I think.

The X-Files did have its finale on television, in the form of 'The Truth'... but X-Files 3 should something that should really send the show off with a bang. It should be big, it should be loud, it should be scary and it should be somewhat OBNOXIOUS!

It should have a kick ass score, delivered by the genius that is Mr Mark Snow.

It should have Mulder and Scully (and dare I say it, William) fighting to save the world from colonization.

It should have everything that made that amazing mythology story so entertaining. There should be aliens. There should be black oil. There should be bees. But, not so many bees that Mulder and Scully get interrupted in the hallway again, because then I'll hurt someone. Maybe I should take up bee-keeping? ;)

Also, it needs to have a big guest star. Each of the previous movies has had one. Martin Landau in 'Fight The Future'. Billy Connolly in 'I Want To Believe'.  Who would you want to see as the big name in X-Files 3?

Sure, a feature film is going to require millions of dollars to produce, I don't dispute that... but that's not a decision to come from anyone BUT 20th Century Fox at the moment. As Gillian Anderson said in my feature on Moviehole, it is Fox that needs to be convinced. In an interview that David Duchovny did recently, he said the ball is in Fox's court. "I would bet on us coming back." he said in an interview with the Chicago Sun Times.

XF3 should attempt to wrap up every single unanswered question, and if they are going to pose further questions, then don't leave it open for the series to be rebooted (I don't think my purist heart could take that).

Do you know what? Here's a thought. If you leave questions unanswered, it would be a perfect lead in to a series of Graphic Novels. You could continue on with the story that way. I would buy them. I know countless fans that would also buy them.

All the above needs to have 20th Century Fox's greenlight anyway. And until that comes, there's no point even arguing the delivery method. It is what it is. You can write to 20th Century Fox until your hand falls off. While you're attempting to regenerate a new one using a salamander (Young At Heart), I suggest you go and take a look at the many campaigns that XFilesNews.com have put on in the last five years.

And for those fans who are scared that this is going to be the end. Yes it's scary. But we'll all get through it together. Many other fandom franchises have not been as lucky as we have been with nine seasons and two feature films under our belt.

Other series only get that once chance to be on television, for one season. I'm so thankful that we've had what we've had. A talented cast and crew who are dedicated to making the fandom happy, and extremely dedicated to that final chapter in The X-Files Saga.

To quote the amazing Mr Frank Spotnitz, 'Don't Give Up'. Because if the fans give up, then what is left for the studio to believe in? Keep the faith alive. Sure, I know it's a big ask when we have been fighting this cause long and hard for close to five years. But it's what we do. We want to believe.

AXF Project 'For Your Consideration'

My X-Files Fandom group, Aussie X-Files Fans (@ Facebook) are about to commence a fandom campaign that has been coming for quite some time.

It's not your usual X-Files 3 campaign, but instead a 'Convention' Campaign.

Inspired by the fact that the lovely Ms Gillian Anderson is going to be appearing at several conventions in the Northern Hemisphere this year (UK/Canada/USA), us fans in the Southern Hemisphere are feeling a little lost right now.

So, the 'For Your Consideration' project has been born.

If you are an Australian/New Zealand fan who would like to help campaign to see Gillian appear at an Australian/New Zealand Convention, please join our Facebook Group.

I had never noticed what my Moviehole bio actually says. I'd say it's pretty accurate.

New series of X-Files Comics!

IDW Publishing To Launch New X-FILES Series In 2013

All I will say to this... is WOOHOO!

"Few shows have captured the zeitgeist and fans' imaginations like THE X-FILES, and fewer shows still have left people hungry for more in the way this one did," said Chris Ryall, IDW's Chief Creative Officer/Editor-in-Chief. "Our new series will be picking up where the second film left off, which will hopefully be as exciting for fans to read as it is for us to develop."

So, it picks up POST 'I Want To Believe'. New Mulder and Scully.

NEW stories.

NEW!

MH Feature: The Likelihood of XF3 in 2013?

Very excited that my first feature for Moviehole is online!

Very excited that my first assignment was writing about something that I do know so well. I really appreciate the opportunity. Thank you so much CM. :)

Also, a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart to the always amazing Frank Spotnitz and Gillian Anderson who willingly answered some questions.

Massive thanks to everyone who have given me positive feedback and constructive criticism. It's greatly appreciated.

Thanks to Roi for tweeking the IWTB poster for me as well. She got the font just right. :)

You can read my first feature here.

Educating a younger generation

Over the last year or so, I have been introducing my fiance's niece (Tahlia) to the world of  The X-Files.

The young lady (who is 15) asked for the box set for Christmas!

Now, the family have booked their accommodation for our wedding in Whistler (YAY!) and imagine the swelling pride I felt when my sister in law (to be) said:

'Tahlia is so excited to be going to Vancouver, and expects you to take her to all the set locations that you can."

Of course. Of course I will.

I encourage everyone to introduce The X-Files to someone who has never seen it before. If you trust them, loan them your box set. ; )

Dork

Yes, I'm a dork. So while I was sitting around waiting for things to print here in the office, I thought I'd take a selfie to show you what's on my mind today.

My gorgeous friend Roileigh and I were discussing the finer details we'd like to see in XF3. Some of which will definitely not be to all X-Philes tastes. ; )

Also, we discussed the sheer number of tissues we will need when we finally ultimately watch XF3 in the cinema.

I am going to need waterproof mascara.

Supanova: Blog Coming Soon

Mother nature, we need to talk.

Saturday at Supanova I went along as Fight The Future Dana Scully. However, I spent most of the day like this. Drenched. Under an umbrella.

Walking through the rain and the mud and the rain.

That being said... Supanova is seriously one of the best conventions out there. Very professional. Run very well. All the stars that attend seem to have an amazing time. Lines for tokens, photos and autographs are well managed. You ask questions of the volunteers, and they answer with a smile on their face.... and if they don't know - they try to help as best they can.

The only gripe I had was that there wasn't a cloak room. And they didn't put the lights on in the main hall on the Sunday.... made shooting photos very difficult.

As I wound down from the weekend and geared up for a busy week - I found myself in bed with ice-cream and X-Files. Really, there isn't a better way to prepare for the week. Relaxation.

Also, if you haven't tried Maple Tree Hugger by Ben & Jerry's - you must!

Have you guys seen American Pie: Reunion? Heard the X-Files reference? No spoilers for those who haven't, but let's just say, there is an amazing X-Files Reference that took me straight back to high school. I had a very 'She is me' moment. My friends looked at me in geeky glee and said, 'Holy shit... that is Sandi.'

I very rarely do this.

I am going to post about Fan-Fiction.

Two days ago it was brought to my attention that Gossamer had been updated. Gossamer is my happy place. When it is updated it's like all my Christmases have come at once.

I am like a giddy school girl.

Now, I have to say that this update was VERY small. But, within it's update there are several hidden gems. Including Blue Samutra who always keeps us hooked with her work in progress works that are always addictive. However, I have discovered a piece written by Malibu Sunset that has left me feeling like I should be locked up in a padded cell and someone should throw away the key.

If you are a shipper. If you enjoy fanfic. If you enjoy writing that is dead-on with characterisation and true to the X-Files canon... Bite Size Love is the story for you. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

But be warned guys, it is extremely not suitable for work. Don't say I didn't warn you. It's also not suitable for the faint of heart, for those who experience heart palpitations, for the weak. ; ).

The Eager wait for Postal Delivery

Don't you hate it when you have a truckload of mail coming from all corners of the globe... and it takes weeks and months to arrive. You check your mailbox every single day hoping that today is the day.

The guys at Australia Post always laugh at my excited face as I stand there with the awaiting collection notice that gets put into our PO Box. I can look at them before I go to the mail box and they always give me a knowing smile.

Love it.

So just what have I got coming exactly?

Well.... I was recently naughty with the GillianAnderson.ws auctions. Naughty, but some of the things I won went for a REALLY good price. And at least I know what I have purchased is pretty much a 'One of' - that's why I bought them. And because of charity. Always charity.

Some of that money goes to help the Neurofibromatosis Network.

I also helped a couple of friends out by buying some of their collectables off them as they needed some money. I figured I'd buy them and keep them in a safe place - and if the time came when they wanted to buy them back off me - they could definitely do that.

I have a friend who is sending me a surprise from London Film and Comic Con - although that was sent in July (it is now September, why isn't it here?!).

I had the lovely Roileigh get me an autograph at Toronto Fan eXpo.

And of course there is the evil website that is eBay. I should be banned from eBay.
Because this should be watched. Over, and over, and over again.
Longing for X-Files 3.
Longing bad.

Greenlight please 20th Century Fox.

It is at this time of year, for the last four years, that I get really nostalgic and thankful that The X-Files: I Want To Believe was made.

This movie is responsible for so many amazing friendships, and opportunities that have come my way. Not to say that I was just handed them - oh no, I have worked my butt off for years and years.

But the fruits of that labour have been well worth the effort.

I can't believe that when I started Aussie X-Files Fans @ Facebook (AXF) well over four years ago now, that it would bring me the joy, the success, and the level of friendships that I know I will have for many years to come - long after The X-Files has finished.

The friendships not just in Australia, but worldwide, are something to be extremely thankful for. Sure... over the years some of those friendship have drifted because of distance and other factors - but although we may be miles adrift, we will forever be inches apart.

In the last four years:- TV appearances, Magazine and Newspaper Articles, raising tens of thousands for charities, bringing Australian X-Philes together from around the country to watch the movies on the big screen, holding hundreds of auctions on eBay, meeting stars from the show who have finally traveled to Australia to attend conventions, and then ultimately walking a red carpet at a World Premiere.

With each new year, comes new opportunity.

I am so excited to see what the future holds.
