The truth is out there, and is set to take us on some new and exciting adventures with Mulder and Scully at the helm!
Following up to previous exciting news that ‘The X-Files’ is coming back in June 2013 in comic book form, it has been announced over the weekend that the series creator, Chris Carter is going to be coming on board to be executive producer of the comic series, which is being labelled ‘Season 10’.

XF3 Ramblings
I contemplated writing these musings for Moviehole, but as I don't want to flood my new job with X-Files posts. I promised the previous Features editor that I wouldn't, and I plan to stick to that promise... maybe. Liv if you're reading, I'll do my best!
So I'm sat here, in gloomy rainy Brisbane (it reminds me a lot of Vancouver outside) feeling a little sorry for myself... as I tend to do when there's a convention appearance looming. I get it... I live in the Southern Hemisphere. The Northern Hemisphere conventions are out of my reach. It doesn't mean that I'm not going to feel sad that I can't attend.
But I digress...
The following musings are from my own mind. These are my thoughts. MINE. They are not from anyone else but me. If you want to flame me for them, I suggest you just stop reading and go and do something else with the time it would take you to read this post. It's purely to get these thoughts out of my own brain and put them down into my blog. That's why I started blogging in the first place.
So, if you're still with me and haven't run away, here's what I think.
The X-Files did have its finale on television, in the form of 'The Truth'... but X-Files 3 should something that should really send the show off with a bang. It should be big, it should be loud, it should be scary and it should be somewhat OBNOXIOUS!
It should have a kick ass score, delivered by the genius that is Mr Mark Snow.
It should have Mulder and Scully (and dare I say it, William) fighting to save the world from colonization.
It should have everything that made that amazing mythology story so entertaining. There should be aliens. There should be black oil. There should be bees. But, not so many bees that Mulder and Scully get interrupted in the hallway again, because then I'll hurt someone. Maybe I should take up bee-keeping? ;)
Also, it needs to have a big guest star. Each of the previous movies has had one. Martin Landau in 'Fight The Future'. Billy Connolly in 'I Want To Believe'. Who would you want to see as the big name in X-Files 3?
Sure, a feature film is going to require millions of dollars to produce, I don't dispute that... but that's not a decision to come from anyone BUT 20th Century Fox at the moment. As Gillian Anderson said in my feature on Moviehole, it is Fox that needs to be convinced. In an interview that David Duchovny did recently, he said the ball is in Fox's court. "I would bet on us coming back." he said in an interview with the Chicago Sun Times.
XF3 should attempt to wrap up every single unanswered question, and if they are going to pose further questions, then don't leave it open for the series to be rebooted (I don't think my purist heart could take that).
Do you know what? Here's a thought. If you leave questions unanswered, it would be a perfect lead in to a series of Graphic Novels. You could continue on with the story that way. I would buy them. I know countless fans that would also buy them.
All the above needs to have 20th Century Fox's greenlight anyway. And until that comes, there's no point even arguing the delivery method. It is what it is. You can write to 20th Century Fox until your hand falls off. While you're attempting to regenerate a new one using a salamander (Young At Heart), I suggest you go and take a look at the many campaigns that XFilesNews.com have put on in the last five years.
And for those fans who are scared that this is going to be the end. Yes it's scary. But we'll all get through it together. Many other fandom franchises have not been as lucky as we have been with nine seasons and two feature films under our belt.
Other series only get that once chance to be on television, for one season. I'm so thankful that we've had what we've had. A talented cast and crew who are dedicated to making the fandom happy, and extremely dedicated to that final chapter in The X-Files Saga.
To quote the amazing Mr Frank Spotnitz, 'Don't Give Up'. Because if the fans give up, then what is left for the studio to believe in? Keep the faith alive. Sure, I know it's a big ask when we have been fighting this cause long and hard for close to five years. But it's what we do. We want to believe.

Frank Spotnitz: Optimistic
Frank Spotnitz is very optimistic about a 2013 'X-Files 3' - in his 'message' at the bottom of my thank you that I sent to biglight.com today.
To quote Dana Scully, "I'm alllllllllllllll a tingle."
Congratulations on the article, Sandi! I’m delighted to be a part of it. And I am feeling very optimistic about 2013…

New Year. 2013. What's in store?
Haven't blogged since Mid December. Doesn't mean that I've been sitting around doing nothing. Quite the opposite! Christmas and New Year was a flutter activity, and I'm now back at work.
Very excited to take on a new role in 2013 (because I haven't got enough on my plate, I thought I'd challenge myself further!!).
I'm very excited to write that I have been appointed features editor for the amazing Moviehole.Net - one of Australia's longest running, and most popular, movie and entertainment websites. This role is going to be exciting, and challenging. I've already been assigned an article that I've been working hard on. A topic that is very well known by me personally, so it is going to be possibly the toughest assignment of my life (being that I will be the most critical). That being said, I am thrilled to be working for someone that I am so thankful I can call a friend. CM. He is one who truly strives to take any situation to the next level. He is someone that I draw a lot of inspiration from, and I am excited to see what this role has in store for me.
In other news, we spent a week at Tamborine Mountain, camping with some of our friends and getting out of our heads to ring in the new year. I took a lot of photos, including our friends saddling up and going on a horse ride. I am yet to have a chance to even look at them on my computer, but I will put some of those up soon.
My sister and her fiance are here until the end of the month. We have their engagement party this weekend! I am thrilled to be asked to be her maid of honour.
'Limited Edition' Wristbands for SA-YES are still coming... although they seem to be somewhat held up by a customs issue. Dealing with that. Hoping to have information for everyone shortly about that.
The wedding planning is still coming along. Official invites will be put into photoshop and printed within the month. Must start bringing things forward that I have had on the backburner for some time.
I hope to attend many more Buddhist classes throughout the year.
And finally, really hoping that 20th Century Fox greenlight X-Files 3 sometime soon.

Dork
Yes, I'm a dork. So while I was sitting around waiting for things to print here in the office, I thought I'd take a selfie to show you what's on my mind today.
My gorgeous friend Roileigh and I were discussing the finer details we'd like to see in XF3. Some of which will definitely not be to all X-Philes tastes. ; )
Also, we discussed the sheer number of tissues we will need when we finally ultimately watch XF3 in the cinema.
I am going to need waterproof mascara.

[ Fandom ] This is why I love my Fandom. Hands down.
This, my readers, is why The X-Files Fandom is the best fandom in the world. When you are feeling down and out, there is always someone who can help bring things back to perspective. To reality. To remember what is important at the end of the day. Winning the competition would have been nice, but it didn't happen. You have to take the positive out of the situation and run with it. The phile love is definitely
making me feel better. I was really unhappy before, but the love and
support of everyone is really doing a great deal to bring it all home,
back to reality. This competition wasn't the be all and end all of life,
and I still have so much to do. This was just an opportunity to travel,
meet with my Philes, and see Gillian.
And all that can be done at a future date.... 20th Century Fox just need to set that date.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
So you're no doubt disappointed right now and I can totally understand why, you worked so hard and you WERE the most creative entrant, there is no denying that. But I just want you to know that even in loss you have won. You have shown the power of fandom, the power of our RELATIONSHIPS with each other and even with the creators of our beloved show. I don't believe the other entrants did that. What you did is proved that what can be imagined, CAN be achieved, even if it's not in the way we first dreamt it. You proved the power of the X-Files (and its Philes), and you should be damn proud, because I have never been prouder of you. I love you. Be strong. Call if you need me.- Kaitlyn Dundler
The show was never meant to be mainstream, we got there by zeitgeist and accident. More popular fandoms win by sheer numbers, certainly not by quality. We rule the fringe. The upper one, that is. And admit it - we like it that way, as any elite, as any secret society, any conspiracy does. We know that you rule, Sandi - Kai Krick
Look at it as room for another door to open. The universe works its magic in its own way and you just need to be open to it. i really liked it and a lot of others looks like. Trust that. Better luck next time. - Sharon Stantic
I'm sorry to hear that Sandi, after all the work you and Craig put into your entry. But you (and we) know that you're a 'top geek' and I hope that you're still extremely proud of what you did achieve and the whole process and experience xxx - Jessica Bankin
No Top Geek final for Sandi, no BAFTA nom for Gillian this is just one unfuckingbelievable fuckity week!!! My condolences Sandi - but like I said a few days ago - you're a winner in our eyes & hearts Kiddo ♥ - Wendy Lennon
Since the first 3 posts used variations of "Fuck," allow me to continue this creativity: Frakitiy fuck frak that. Philes rule. And we'll get a 3rd film made. What geek in that competition can say they aided in that. - Erica Fraga

[ Fandom ] Why I need to be #TopGeek
When iiNet announced their TopGeek competition - I saw it as an opportunity to fly the flag for Australian X-Files Fans.
And I have as good a chance as anyone to win, right?
The reason why I became an X-Files Fan is the same as everyone else... I tuned into the Pilot, and watched every single episode. As the winding mytharc story became more and more involved I got more and more sucked into it.
Bullied at school, I found myself empathizing with Fox Mulder ('No one down here but the FBI's Most Unwanted') and found myself idolizing Dana Scully.
The X-Files quickly became my 'happy place' whenever things were bad. Children in school can be disgustingly mean and was verbally berated because I was different from everyone else. Labelled a lesbian because I didn't have a boyfriend (yes, I was 12, and still working out where I fit into the world, let alone if I wanted a Boyfriend), I was labelled anorexic (again, very young, and swimming everyday because I wanted to swim for my state), and of course, I was labelled a nerd. That was the one that stung the most... in 1994, being a nerd wasn't exactly going to make you Miss Popularity.
The X-Files quickly filled the void in my life. Sitting down every week at 8.30pm to watch my favourite duo seek the truth gave me something to look forward to every week.
I'm not saying that what I went through was anything like what some young kids go through today - but it was pretty bad.
But enough with the doom and gloom. That is why I latched onto The X-Files. Why I stayed with The X-Files was because of the story, it's two amazing lead characters, and the possibility that perhaps some of these crazy things they were investigating could possibly happen. As I got older, I couldn't help but notice the amazing crazy chemistry that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson had on screen, and brought such amazing depth to Mulder and Scully - It was pretty hard to ignore.
When I got to high school I thought I'd have a fresh start, making friends who would be there for me because they got to know me rather than knowing what they were told by everyone else. Of course, I had someone from Primary School come to my school, so my reputation followed me. What a frigging surprise. Lucky for me, I found a group of girls who were all embracing of my geekiness - and will hopefully remain friends for life. The bullying was worse at high school - the older you get, the bitchier the girls get. But that is something that everyone already knows. ; )
As I grew, my love for The X-Files grew. And lo-and-behold, suddenly Gillian Anderson was coming to Australia to promote the show that I had fallen in love with. Quickly I assembled my plan and was going to be at Indooroopilly to meet my role model. Imagine my surprise when I got there, learned that there were only 200 tickets (all had gone already) and there was going to be an estimated 5000 strong crowd to greet Ms Anderson. I was 13. I was tiny. All of a sudden I was trampled by a 10000 strong crowd. Hoisted over the barrier by the police, my dream of meeting Ms Anderson that day was dashed. Left battered and bruised I vowed that day, whatever it took - I would meet Gillian someday.
Flash forward to 2007. Aged 25, still an X-Files Fan and having used Gillian Anderson as a role model for most of my life, The X-Files (2) was greenlit. Little did I realise what this was about to do to my life.
This movie, brought me amazing friends all around the world. It brought me Mulder and Scully that I had missed seeing on my screen since 2002. It brought me the opportunity to create an amazing Australian fan group Aussie X-Files Fans @ Facebook (that is now one of my proudest achievements). It also brought me one of my favourite mantras, Don't give up! I was approached by 20th Century Fox (Australia) about going on Showtime (Movie Network)'s The Playlist TV Show and being interviewed about my passion for The X-Files and it's upcoming feature film. Of course I accepted this opportunity!
Through my constant need to know was was happening in the industry, various people helped me out by giving me movie tickets for 'I Want To Believe' - including tickets to the Midnight Screening on July 23rd.
Through this movie I made the most amazing bunch of friends from around the world. How many friends do you have that would help fundraise to get you to fly across the world to make your lifelong dream a reality? Mine did. In 2009 with the help of my gorgeous friends who call themselves 'The Inner Circle', I flew to London to not only meet them, and spend 10 glorious days with them - I finally got to meet Gillian Anderson, at the stage door for her play A Dolls House.
Aussie X-Files Fans @ Facebook (AXF) bought fans together from around the country, primarily to discuss the upcoming movie - but I also wanted to do more. Gillian was pregnant with her third child, and I decided that I wanted to do more than just send her a baby gift - so the AXF Fundraising Scheme was created.
We fundraised for one of Gillian's favourite Charities (Alinyiikira Junior School) and managed to raise a little over $2000 for the cause. Not a bad baby gift, eh?
Seeing just how easy it was to raise a couple of thousand dollars I decided that it would become an annual thing - with the events growing in size yearly - to date, we have raised over $30000 for various charities that Ms Anderson has supported, and even helped to co-found (South African Youth Education for Sustainability). Aided by the support of some big names who agreed to participate (Frank Spotnitz, Chris Carter, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, William B Davis, Jeff Gulka, Lance Henriksen - just to name a few) it certainly wasn't easy doing it all from Australia, but it was extremely worthwhile when those final figures came in.
My thoughts were, why be 'just a fan' when you can use the fandom you love to help others around the world.
See below for the fundraiser evolution - six fans in a hotel room, to 60 fans in a movie theatre.
Not bad for a TV Series that went off the air all those years ago. Not bad for a fandom who are patiently waiting for 20th Century Fox to greenlight a Third X-Files Feature Film.
2011 was possibly my biggest year within the fandom. Not only did I hold my most successful fundraiser to date with over 140 auctions on eBay and a large event (pictured above) in Brisbane - I attended my first Geek Convention in Sydney meeting the lovely Lance Henriksen from Millennium (1013 TV Series, also created by Chris Carter), and also travelled to Melbourne to meet the lovely Lone Gunmen Bruce Harwood, Tom Braidwood and Dean Haglund.
However, the biggest event for me that happened in 2011, was that Gillian Anderson announced that she was coming to Australia to promote Johnny English Reborn. Never in a million years did I expect that after getting to meet the lovely lady in 2009, that she would be returning to Australia (Finally) after all those years.
An amazing series of events followed, that lead me to ultimately walking the red carpet, and getting to spent a small amount of time with the lady that has helped to define the person that I have become today. When there was potential to crawl into a hole to escape the horrible taunts (and never come out) I found light in something that I am so glad is still a huge part of my life.
So why do I want to win #TopGeek?
The answer is simple.
So that I can travel to either the London Film and Comic Con or to the Toronto Fan eXpo so that I can have another opportunity to mix and mingle with my fellow X-Files Fans, and to meet with the one person who has helped to shape me into the human being I am proud to be today.
That one person, is Gillian Anderson.
Gorgeous, friendly, charitable, successful and humble.
She is truly an inspiration not just to me, but to women all around the world.

[ Fandom ] For the record 20th Century Fox
A message for 20th Century Fox that is too long for status update or tweet:
Hey 20th Century Fox, if you don't want to finish a story that you helped to start in 1993, why don't you release the rights back to Chris Carter and let him, Frank Spotnitz and anyone else who wants to be involved and let them FINISH 'The X-Files' Saga. Honestly, it doesn't look like you guys want to make it - so why not grant the creator the opportunity to finish what he started. All the cast want in for it as well - the only people in the way of making the damned movie are YOU!
Also - stop blaming 'The X-Files - I Want To Believe' for the budget problems of the '24' movie - there are plenty of other films out there that aren't doing so well - with a much larger budget than IWTB. Don't forget that IWTB bought in double what it cost to make. Sure it didn't do as well stateside, but it did bloody well around the rest of the world.
